Day of Compassion . . .

History
The mission of the Paré Labrecque Training Centre is to totally accept the aging person as a unique and whole person. Irrespective of one's level of autonomy each person deserved to be cared for with respect and dignity. In 1999 the Senate of Canada recognized the Centre's mission and proclaimed May 20th as “The Day of Compassion”. 120 countries also joined in.

“Zero tolerance for neglect or abuse.”

Seniors in loss of autonomy are part of our love stories. As mother, father, spouse, friend, these persons are to be assured of our compassionate care during all the stages of their illness. They are the ones who have contributed to our own History and that of all humanity.

La Table Humanité & Santé (Carrefour Humanisation-Santé, Catholic Health Association of Canada, Canadian Religious Conference and l'Association des Intervenants et Intervenantes en Soins Spirituels du Québec) support May 20th as the Day of Compassion and wish to promote it in various milieux associated and dedicated to health care.

May all seniors be given compassionate care!

Celebrate MAY 20th

For Seniors in loss of autonomy

Day of Compassion

You are invited to find a person or a business which can sponsor your Centre with ice cream to be served to seniors. Seniors suffering from cognitive impairment love a treat. We suggest to serve the ice cream in the afternoon as a special event where family members and friends can participate. It is an occasion to sit with them and share a moment of loving care. It will be sunshine on their solitude. Many of them might be voiceless but they FEEL a loving presence.
